University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach
Tom Arth has resigned his position as head coach, UTC Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics
Mark Wharton announced today. Arth just wrapped up his second year with UTC, posting a 6-5 mark and a 4-4 tally in Southern Conference action in 2018.
Arth was 9-13 in his tenure at Chattanooga, including 7-9 in SoCon play. UTC had one of the top defenses in the league each of the last two seasons, led by All-American and 2018 SoCon Defensive Player of the Year
Isaiah Mack.

"Earlier this evening Coach Arth informed me of his intention to resign from UTC and become the head coach at the University of Akron. Coach Arth and his staff did an outstanding job during his two seasons with the Mocs. This is a great opportunity for him to further his career close to his hometown. We wish him and his family nothing but the best.
"We have already begun the search for a replacement and the work our student-athletes and staff have done has attracted an outstanding candidate pool. We plan to work diligently to make sure we identify the best person to lead Chattanooga Football.
