EATONTON, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is tied for seventh through 36 holes of the Linger Longer Invitational. The Mocs are matched with Augusta at level-par 576. That puts the group two behind UNCG in sixth and two clear of Cincinnati in ninth.
Luke Long led the way with a 3-under 69. Long's effort was solid on a difficult day for the team. He turned in four birdies with just one bogey to anchor the 293 total.
Oliver Simonsen added 73 with
Andrew Weathers and
Lake Johnson rounding out the team score with 75 and 76, respectively.
Long leads the Mocs through two cards, tied for 13th overall, at 2 under. Weathers is also in the top 20, tied for 19th at 143 (-1). Johnson and Simonsen are tied with 147 as
Etienne Brault sits another stroke back (148).
The day started well with five birdies in the first three holes. UTC went cold with just one over the 10 falling to 12 over for the day. Long and Simonsen keyed a strong finish.
The duo along with Johnson tallied birdie at the par 3 14th. That spear-headed nine birdies on the counting cards an -8 run over the final five holes.
Georgia remains in first at 18 under, one ahead of No. 8 Alabama. The Bulldogs' Davis Thompson is the individual leader with a 12-under total of 132.

- Weathers (143) and Simonsen (147) turned in their best 36-hole scores of the season this week.
- Long's 69 is his third in the 60s this season, ninth by a Moc. It ties Johnson for the team lead.
- The squad's 576 is the best 36-hole total of the year by 10 strokes over the Shoal Creek Invitational. The last time the Mocs sat par or better through two rounds was 7-under 569 in the 2017 Furman Intercollegiate.
