The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team scored a 7-0 win at Alabama A&M today. The Mocs swept all 10 matches in singles and doubles on the Bulldogs Tennis Courts in Huntsville, Ala.
UTC improved to 7-11 overall, equaling the most number of wins in a season since 2013.
"I am really proud of these kids sweeping every position in singles and doubles," stated first-year head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. "We've had a tough stretch lately and everyone took care of business today and got the win."
The Mocs continued to mix up the doubles lineup, with sophomore
Niklas Gerdes teaming with freshman
Jacob Marshall at No. 1. They pulled out a 7-6 victory in their second match as a pair. Junior
Pablo Llebeili and freshman
Luke Plaisted kept their spot at No. 2 and won 6-3. Sophomore
Simon Bustamante and freshman
Cooper Long posted a 6-0 win at No. 3.
Plaisted led the way in singles action, only dropping one game at No. 4. Long outlasted his opponent [6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10)] at No. 6, while the rest won in straight sets.
Up next for the Mocs is a make-up match on Sunday at Tennessee Tech. Match time is set for Noon in Cookeville, Tenn.
