OXFORD, Miss. – The Chattanooga Mocs softball team couldn't capitalize with runners on base, leaving 13 stranded, in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Saint Louis on the final day of the Ole Miss Classic.
 
Following the loss, Chattanooga falls to 8-11 on the year. Saint Louis improved to 5-8 after the win.
 
After a scoreless two innings to begin the game, SLU got on the board first in the top of the third with three runs on just two hits. SLU scored via an RBI single, wild pitch and a fielder's choice after a lead-off double started the inning.
 
Chattanooga cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third when Amanda Beltran singled through the left side with the bases loaded, bringing in Amy Lewis from third.
 
The Mocs would tie the game, 3-3, in the home half of the fourth when Aly Walker crossed the plate on a wild pitch before Ashley Conner laced an RBI single up the middle.
 
Saint Louis re-gained the lead in the top of the fifth with an RBI double down the right field line followed by an RBI single up the middle. Chattanooga couldn't put together a rally in the seventh and fell 5-3.
 
The Mocs out-hit the Billikens, 7-6, as Conner led the way by finishing the day 3-for-4 with an RBI. Alyssa Coppinger added a multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 performance while Beltran and Walker registered singles in the defeat.
 
Celie Hudson (3-6) suffered the loss in the circle. She threw a complete game, allowing six hits, five earned runs and four walks while striking out a season-high seven.
