Women’s Golf Closes Regular Season at Mercer

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team takes the tee Sunday in the final regular season event of 2017-18, the Brickyard Collegiate. The three-day, 54-hole event finishes Tuesday at the Brickyard at Riverside in Macon, Ga.
The Mocs look to build momentum heading into the postseason. The Southern Conference Championships are the following week at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head on the same Sunday through Tuesday timeline.
Cristina Perez has had the hot hand, er club, for Coach Colette Murray's charges. Perez posted back-to-back top 10 finishes, the third straight Moc to pull that off in the spring semester. She tied for ninth at the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational and then tied for ninth a week later in the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
Monica San Juan got it started with a tie for second in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Individual and then runner-up against the Moon Golf Invite where Megan Woods tied for eighth. Woods followed tying for sixth at the UNF Collegiate. That trio is joined by sophomores Holly Morgan and Maddy McDanel.

- Perez now leads the team in top 10s with three. That ties her career high set in 2015-16. She had seven total in her four years.
- Perez was 8-6-0 against golfers ranked in the top 100 during the month of March. That included three top 50 wins topping No. 34 Wenyung Keh (Washington) at the Hawkeye El Tiger and then the Virginia duo of No. 33 Anna Redding and No. 43 Beth Lillie at LSU. She held a 37-stroke advantage overall against those 14 student-athletes.
