CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team fell 2-1 against Georgia State in double overtime Friday night at Finley Stadium. The Mocs are now 3-2 on the year and the Panthers improve to 2-2-1 overall.
Hannah Davis scored her first goal of the season in the 105
th minute giving the Panthers the victory. Caitlin Ray eluded her defender on the far right side and sent a pass into the box picked up by Davis and driven home for the Golden Goal.
Chattanooga scored the first goal in the sixth minute.
Chloe Arnold's shot was deflected off the keeper and picked up by
Bailey Gale. Gale sent her shot into the back of the net to give the Mocs the early 1-0 lead.
Georgia State's Brooke Shank scored her team-best third goal of the year in the 60
th minute to tie the match.
The Mocs controlled the ball well and had several chances late in the game. Arnold drove from midfield and her shot from outside the box went high while
Masey Fox got in close on the right but sent her attempt into the hands of the Panther keeper.
UTC edged the Panthers 14-11 on shots and 7-5 shots on goal advantage. UTC keeper
Melia Correa made three saves on the night and Lydia Fraga saved six shots. Fox and Arnold each led the way with three shots apiece while Gale and
Hollie Massey each had two attempts.
Shank had three shots on the night to lead Georgia State with four of her teammates each taking two shots each.
The Mocs will travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb Sunday evening. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. Links for streaming video and live stats will be available on the women's soccer schedule page of GoMocs.com.
