SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team improved to 2-0-1 in Southern Conference action Friday night with a 1-0 win over Wofford on the Terriers home pitch.

Jordan Mueller headed in her second goal of the year on a corner kick from
Chloe Arnold in the 53
rd minute for the lone score of the match.

Gavin McKinney said. "It was a gritty team performance and we are delighted we kept another clean sheet."

Arnold had several chances to score later in the game. She would have a goal erased on an offsides call. Another opportunity, as she raced 1v1 toward the net was picked off her foot by Wofford's sliding keeper. Another shot was blocked and yet another was saved as the Mocs peppered away at the Terrier defense.

Arnold had a game-high five shots with four on goal and an assist.
Masey Fox had three shots for Chattanooga with two on goal. Mueller's one shot found the net for her second goal of the year.

Chattanooga outshot Wofford 16-12 and had a 9-2 shots on goal advantage. The Mocs defense held off the Terriers and keeper
Ashton Shields improved to 5-0-2 on the year with her fifth shutout of the season. She has not allowed a goal in 262:39

The win was UTC's fifth all-time against Wofford and third straight. Chattanooga is now 5-15-4 against the Terriers.

The Mocs are 6-4-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Southern Conference action while the Terriers fall to 2-8-1 on the year and 0-3 against the league.

"We are looking forward to Sunday in what will be another very tough match," McKinney said.

Chattanooga will put its four-game unbeaten streak on the line at Furman Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
