ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
ROCKY FACE, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team concluded play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate shooting 306 today. That put the Mocs in 14th at 895, three behind Florida (892).
It was a long day for the squad as it turned in just nine birdies. Five of those came from junior
Will Porter. Porter had the low round of 76 fighting back from a nine on the par 4 third to post three birdies coming in to pare his total to 4 over.
Etienne Brault matched his 76.
Lake Johnson and
A.J. Lintunen were one behind that duo with 77s.
Oliver Simonsen had the drop score with 79.
The big numbers plagued the round. All five student-athletes had at least one double bogey with four total and three more tallies higher than double. It led to a frustrating finish after a promising start to the week.
Porter led the way tied for 34th at 220. Johnson was next on the ledger with 224, followed closely by Lintunen's 226. Simonsen added 228 with Brault rounding out the scores with 231 over the 54 holes.
Tennessee won the tournament in a playoff over Georgia Tech. Clemson's Bryson Nimmer was medalist shooting 10-under 206.
