Postgame Quotes at Furman

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Furman
Timmons Arena – Greenville, S.C.
Thursday – Jan. 24, 2019

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Opening thoughts after road loss at Furman.
"They had really quick hands. Apparently a lot quicker than what we had thought coming in. They were very good at using them tonight too. We just have to be better. I wasn't mad at the guys at all, I was a little disappointed in the play, but bottom line was we didn't make enough plays. Things weren't going in our favor because they were so physical. They were quicker to the ball and faster than us in certain areas. I was a little surprised by that. We just were not strong with the ball. I thought it was our worst game in a long time in being strong with the ball. We just didn't have it tonight."

On a lot of 'swing' plays going in Furman's favor.
"Those plays are huge. If ten of those plays happen during a game, and you're on the road, you have to have nine of them go your way if you want a chance to win. That's just the way it is in college basketball. You have to have eight at the bare minimum, but you need everything to go your way if you want to win on the road."

On the play from Jerry Johnson, Jr. tonight.
"His emotions come through and most of the time its for the better. It normally helps us all. I thought he really competed hard tonight and made some plays for us. I thought he kept his head inside the game and was very realistic about the certain situations he was in. He played a lot of minutes for us and I thought he was good for the team tonight."

On moving on to Wofford.
"Wofford is a good team. They are very solid and will be really physical too. I think these two [Furman] have a lot of similarities in what they do and their consistencies. They really are a good team and we're going to have our hands full again. That's the way life is on the road in any conference during this time of year. I just want us to go out and play a well-rounded game of basketball."

Jerry Johnson, Jr., R-Jr.-G
On moving forward after loss at Furman.
"We knew we didn't play our best basketball tonight. We just want to put this one behind us. We have a big game at Wofford coming up and we just have to move on. We need to keep doing what we're doing to try and win these next couple games."

On tough road trip at Furman & Wofford.
"It's big. We're playing two tough teams in Furman and Wofford. That's really going to prepare us for the rest of the SoCon and if we were to have a first round win, it'd be a dog fight from there. It's preparing us really well. We'll be ready by the end of it."
