Postgame Quotes at Wofford

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Wofford

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
On allowing offensive rebounds & second chance points.
"We were playing in a way that would potentially concede a few more offensive rebounds, but in the first half, we kept it right where we needed. The second half they were being more physical, but you have to learn how to compete. We obviously played well enough to be up whatever we were in the second half, but then they called that timeout and the run ensued from that moment. It's just not realistic to feel like you can overcome 22 second chance points. It's not realistic to win."

On Wofford's 20-5 run in the second half & allowing them to get in rhythm.
"You have to put your foot down. At some point, you just have to put your foot down. If it was just because of pure ability, why did it take them so long to go up like that? They played better than us for a while, I know that, but we have to learn how to simply put our foot down. We need to get better at that. We need to provide some level of resistance so teams can't beat you with things their comfortable with. It's a cat-and-mouse game, we make them do something different, then they're second guessing their game plan."

On the physical nature of the game & playing SoCon opponents twice.
"I know who we are and know some of those things happen because you're older, or stronger in the weight room. But we get to play these guys twice. You get to have another chance. That's the beauty of this league. Everyone gets two shots at each other. I told them to remember every thing that happened in that game and let it fuel you for the next time you see them on your home floor. That's the part of being young. Those things that happen during the course of the game don't strike you the same way as when you're more older and more mature."

David Jean-Baptiste, R-So., G
On trying to limit the bleeding during opponent runs.
"We just have to learn that teams are going to make runs and we have to stick to what we're doing because we're going to make our run too. After a while, we just couldn't stop the bleeding and then you start going away from the things that got you to that point. We just need to stick to what we're doing."

On what the team can learn heading into the second half of SoCon play.
"We were there in both games and played hard against two really good teams. It's learning and knowing that we're going to play these teams again so we need to play with confidence and learn from the mistakes from the first time."

Jerry Johnson, Jr., R-Jr.,G
On starting the second half on run to extend lead.
"We just didn't want to come out and settle for threes, we wanted to establish something inside. We knew that I had an advantage so any other guards they had down there, I just tried to take advantage and put my weight up. But just couldn't get it done tonight."

On what to take away of tonight's game.
"We could take a lot of things away on the defensive end, both ends at that. A lot of the times we let a whole bunch of offensive rebounds dictate the situation. On the offensive end, we took some quick shots, some bad shots, a lot of shots we could have passed up with a lot of seconds left on the shot clock. There's some things we need to adapt to in film and try to capitalize next time."
