Lamont Paris, Head Coach

On handling foul trouble situation & defensive effort.
"I thought they called it tight in a couple of places, we got some calls too and we attacked but their game plan is to be physical defensively. That's their plan. It's to be physical and to be tough. They don't mind giving up a few free throws, we got some of those calls against us too. We were just out of it defensively, it was a poor performance defensively. The pride, effort and energy… commitment to our rules was bad. There was no discipline. The most disappointed I've been in a long time, I'm just flabbergasted. That's what we did defensively. "

On pressing as a team philosophy.
"We're not a pressing team, typically, but we needed to get some possessions and speed them up, which we did. They missed a couple of free throws, when we turned it over they took a quick shot so it worked out for us. We don't practice that every single day and that's not our calling cards. It's not how we normally play, but it allowed us to get back in to the game. We would've had no business winning this game if it would've somehow come to that."

On moving forward and fixing key issues.
"You just have to play… have to play better. I don't know what else there is to do. We can't give up 105 in a game. I don't care if I lose by twenty or by one, you have to give yourself a chance to win the game."

Jonathan Scott, Jr.-G/F
On moving forward to ETSU on Saturday.
"We definitely have to have a lot more energy and effort on Saturday. That's key for us."

On dealing with team foul troubles.
"It made us a lot less aggressive on the offensive end. It's tough to stay in front of someone and guard someone when you're scared to get another foul. So it makes it really tough to defend."

Kevin Easley, Fr.-F
On tonight's loss to Western Carolina.
"We just didn't do our job. They did the same thing they did the first time we played them. We just didn't compete defensively tonight."

On what's next for the team to try and improve.
"We have to get back to the drawing board and watch some film. ETSU, the pace will be a little different in that game. We're going to have to rebound well, too."

On foul trouble situation.
"That changed how we played. When Donnovan [Toately] had four fouls, we really didn't have another point guard. We just had to go a little bigger than normal. You do get a little nervous playing defense in a tightly called game, though."
