The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team returns home to Finley Stadium for a weeknight Southern Conference showdown against ETSU. Kickoff is set for 7:04 p.m. (E.D.T.) on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Chattanooga.
Erlanger Sports Medicine is the game sponsor for Thursday's White Out at Finley Stadium. The team is sporting their white uniforms and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite white Mocs gear. White Out T-Shirts will be given out in the student section and free white thundersticks are available at the gate while they last.
The Mocs evened their record at 3-3 the last time out with a 34-17 win at Mercer. UTC is in second place in the SoCon race at 2-0, including a 60-36 win over Western Carolina on Sept. 28. No. 8 Furman leads the league with 3-0 SoCon mark, 4-2 overall
The Buccaneers shared the SoCon title last season and were picked third in the preseason polls. They are currently 2-4, and 0-3 in league play. Like the Mocs, ETSU is coming off a bye week. They lost to Wofford 35-17 in their last outing on Oct. 5.
MORE ON THE SOCON RACE
VMI is the surprise team of the league, sitting in third with a 3-1 SoCon record and 4-3 overall. It is the first time the Keydets have posted four wins in a season since 2008. VMI was picked ninth in the league in the preseason polls. Preseason favorite Wofford (3-2, 2-1 SoCon) is in fourth place, while Samford (3-4, 2-2 SoCon) trails in fifth. The Citadel (3-4, 1-2 SoCon) and Mercer (2-4, 1-2 SoCon) are tied for sixth and Western Carolina (1-6, 0-3 SoCon) is tied with ETSU for eighth.
RAIL RIVALRY
This is the second game of the "Rail Rivalry". The winner keeps the Rail Rivalry Trophy, made from a railroad tie that once connected Johnson City and Chattanooga. Weighing 108 pounds – which represents the halfway point of the 216 miles that separate Johnson City and Chattanooga – and measuring five feet, seven inches in length – to represent the 57 years since the teams' first meeting in 1961 and the start of the series in 2018 – The Rail incorporates both the wood of the railroad tie, and steel in honor of the rails that connected the ties on the track. The Rail includes stars in the state of Tennessee to represent Johnson City and Chattanooga. In addition, the logos of both athletic programs are present.

Thursday's game is a White Out against ETSU and all fans are encouraged to wear their white Mocs gear. Free T-Shirts will be available in the student section and all fans can pick up free thundersticks at the gate while they last.

IT'S ALL IN THE NAME
On first reference, it is acceptable to refer to us as the "University of Tennessee at Chattanooga." After that, we prefer to be called "Chattanooga" or "UTC." Our nickname is "Mocs," not Moccasins. Chattanooga is pronounced
chat-uh-NEW-guh, commonly mistaken as CHATT-nooga.
SEASON NO. 112
