The Mocs close out the regular season at the Berry Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams will run at Berry College Saturday morning in their final meet before the Southern Conference Championships next month.
Â
The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the men's 8-kilometer race on the Berry College campus with the women's 6K to start at 10:00 a.m.
Â
"This meet is our last opportunity to prepare in a meet style for the conference and NCAAs," Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. "We are using this meet to work on a couple of points we have noticed throughout the season; getting out and not getting swamped."
Â
The Mocs will work on not getting pinned in, getting out to the front early and then race management.
Â
"You burn so much energy trying to weave yourself through the pack to get to the front," Meyer said. "The second point is accelerating through the race. Building momentum with each mile throughout the whole of the race."
Â
Top runners this season Jonathan Boyd, Nathan Watson and Jake Etheridge will lead the men's team. The women will be led onto the course by Makenzie Jones, Lesley Green and Abby Bateman along with Hannah Caldwell and Julia Henderson.
Â
"We are certainly happy to have a couple kids back from injuries," Meyer said. "Nicole Buerhle and Ryan Gebelein are getting better and we will have them use this meet as a test run for conference. Both these kids will make a huge difference for us and we look forward to having them back competing."
Â
The race will be run on the main campus near the Ford Building. Results will be available online at GoMocs.com through the Perfect Timing Group.
