TEAM
- The Chattanooga Mocs scored a 35-27 win at Samford today … UTC improves to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in SoCon action … the Bulldogs dropped to 4-6 and 3-4 in league play. 

- SoCon standings – Furman (7-3, 5-1), Wofford (6-3, 5-1), The Citadel (6-4, 4-2), Chattanooga (5-5, 4-2), Mercer (4-6, 3-4), Samford (4-6, 3-4), VMI (4-6, 3-4), WCU (3-7, 2-5), ETSU (2-8, 0-7).

- The Mocs held Samford to nine points off their SoCon-leading (No. 15 in the FCS) 36.6 scoring average. 

- UTC wins for the sixth-straight time and 10th of last 11 in the series … 32-10-3 in a series that dates back to 1906 … 10-2 since Samford joined the SoCon in 2008 … 10-5 in Birmingham and 9-1 in Seibert Stadium. 

- Mocs ran for 275 yards while tying for a season-high with 54 carries. 

- Mocs won the turnover battle for the fifth time this season (2INTs vs. 1 Fumble) … 4-1 in games when winning TO battle this season … 11-2 last three years. 

- Mocs held the ball for 36:42 today … second-highest mark of the season.

- Mocs did not allow a sack for the fifth game this season … came into the game second in the SoCon and No. 7 in the nation with just eight sacks allowed on the season.

- Defense only allowed 109 yards of total offense in the first half … 280 in the second.

- UTC defense tied a season-high with three sacks (Edwards, Maxwell, Winston).

- Defense had a season-high seven TFLs … most since nine at VMI on Oct. 27, 2018. 

- Mocs are 10-1 when scoring over 25 points over the last three seasons. 

- UTC is just 2-5 on the year and 4-11 over last three seasons when allowing over 25 points.

- UTC outrushed Samford 275-141 … 3-0 this year and 9-1 over last three years when outrushing opponent. 

- Came into the game averaging 5.0 penalties per outing, third fewest in the SoCon and No. 18 in the FCS … flagged six times for 45 yards tonight.

Ty Boeck – So.-LB
- Tied for team-high with 10 tackles.
- Fifth game this season with 10+ tackles.
- Leads the team with 87 tackles.

Colin Brewer – Sr.-P
- Three punts for a 41.0 average.
- Long of 42.
- 177 career punts is fifth all-time at UTC.

Brandon Dowdell – Jr.-DB
- Season-high and tied for game-high with 10 tackles … six solo.
- Second career game with 10+ tackles.
- Career-high 1.5 TFLs

Khayyan Edwards – Sr.-DL
- Tied a season-high with six tackles.
- Added a sack and a hurry. 

Aaron Floyd – Sr.-DB
- Second INT of the season.

Ailym Ford – Fr.-RB
- Left the game in the first quarter with an injury.
- Three carries for nine yards.
- 1,081 yards is No. 2 on the Mocs all-time freshman list … nine yards shy of the school record set by Mike Smith in 1977.

Rashun Freeman – Jr.-DB
- Career-high eight tackles.

Jay Gibson – Fr.-TE
- 31-yard catch is his longest of the season. 

Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks – Sr.-RB
- Season-highs with 139 yards and two TDs on 27 carries.
- Stepped in for injured starter Ailym Ford.
- Had missed previous four games with an injury.
- Also had a four-yard TD catch … first career TD receptions (UTC & Albany). 
- Four rushing TDs this season.

D.J. Jackson – Jr.-DB
- Second career INT.

Chris James – Sr.-TE
- Career-highs and team highs with five catches for 71 yards and a TD.
- Team-leading fifth TD catch of the year.
- Converted to TE from QB during fall camp.
- Third on the team with 17 catches for 202 yards.

Kanore McKinnon – Jr.-WR
- Two catches for 20 yards.
- First game with multiple receptions.

Bryce Nunnelly – Jr.-WR
- Five catches tied for team-high.
- 36 receiving yards.
- Drew two penalties that resulted in first downs.  
- 133 career receptions is 10th all-time at UTC … one shy of Joel Bradford (2008-11) for ninth.
- 1,897 career receiving yards passes Rocky Turner (1968-71) and Alonzo Nix (2003-04) for seventh all-time at UTC.
- Caught a pass in 23-straight games … tying Alonzo Nix (2003-04) for fifth longest streak at UTC.

Jonathan Stovall – Sr.-RB
- Career-high 31 yards on nine carries. 

Nick Tiano – Sr.-QB
- 17-28 passing for 196 yards and two TDs.
- Ran 12 times for a career-high 100 yards and a score. 
- 5,327 career passing yards is seventh all-time at UTC.
- 797 passing attempts passes Brian Hampton (1996-98) for fifth all-time at UTC.
- 464 career completions passes Kenyon Earl (1991-94) for fourth all-time at UTC.
- 464-797 (.582) is seventh best percentage at UTC.
- 31 career TD passes breaks at tie with Alejandro Bennifield (2014-17) for seventh all-time at UTC.
- 12-13 as a starter breaks a tie for Mickey Brokas (1970-73) for ninth-most wins at UTC.
- Sixth in school history with 6,000 yards of total offense … 6,001 passes Brian Hampton for sixth all-time at UTC.
- Most rushing yards by a QB since Jacob Huesman had 129 on 15 carries against Fordham on Nov. 28, 2015.
