TEAM
- Chattanooga earned a hard-fought 59-57 win over visiting Tennessee State Saturday afternoon…both teams move to 1-1 on the season.
- The Tigers scored 106 points in their season-opening win over Alabama A&M…held 49 points lighter today.
- The Mocs won despite shooting just 35 percent from the field…lowest shooting percentage in a win since a 67-65 triumph at VMI on Feb. 29, 2016…made just 32.3 percent that night (21-65)…claimed outright ownership of 11th SoCon Regular Season title that night.
- +6 on the boards today with 43 compared to 37 for TSU…13-4 advantage in second chance points grabbing 14 offensive rebounds…80.3 defensive rebound percentage through two games, 30.1 percent on the offensive glass.
- Tennessee State led by as many as 13 early in the game…23-10 with 9:08 to go in first half…Mocs out-scored their guests 15-6 the remainder of the half to go into the break down four, 29-25…took first lead, 37-36, since 3-2 on Trey Doomes' layup at 12:39.
- 1-0 this season when trailing at the half, 0-1 when leading.
 
SERIES NOTES
- Chattanooga leads the series 20-14.
- 13-5 in Gig City.
- First meeting came in 1971-72 season…the two squads met 24 times over the next 11 years…just 10 matchups since Dec. 1983…last meetings came in Dec. 2003 with the Mocs claiming an in-season home-and-home sweep.
 
STUDENT-ATHLETES
- Matt Ryan reached double figures for second straight game with 11 points…1-7 from 3pt range but the one was huge giving the Mocs a three-point lead, 55-52, with 1:27 to go.
- David Jean-Baptiste tied Ryan for team-high honors with 11 points…28th time in his Mocs career he's led or tied for the team scoring lead in a game.
- Rod Johnson had his first career double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
- Ramon Vila was a +12 tonight…eight points and seven rebounds.
- Trey Doomes had career highs with eight points and seven rebounds in 15:37 off the bench.
