OPELIKA, Ala.---The Chattanooga Mocs are in 12th-place after 18 holes of the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner. Chattanooga's 305 is one shot ahead of Western Kentucky in 13th and one behind the 10th-place duo of ULM and Florida Atlantic.
 
Senior Lake Johnson had the low tally with 74. That was one better than Connor Nolan's 75. Etienne Brault and Oliver Simonsen closed out the counting scores with 77 and 79, respectively. Leon Bader's 80 was the drop score.
 
The squad made the turn with a 4-over total. The back nine proved lethal in the windy and wet conditions. Fourteen of the 22 total bogeys came over the final nine along with two doubles. The counters managed just five birdies.
 
No. 21 Arkansas State leads the field at 5-under par 283. No. 10 Auburn is second with 293 ahead of a trio in third including sixth-ranked SMU at 295. ASU's Joel Wendin leads individually at 6 under.
 
Tuesday's second round starts at 9 a.m., Eastern time. The Mocs are paired again with ULM and Florida Atlantic. The trio tees off of No. 10 with Bader leading off followed by Simonsen (9:10), Brault (9:20), Nolan (9:30) and Johnson (9:40).

• Connor Nolan's six birdies is tied for the tournament lead with UNC Wilmington's Reese McFarlane…3rd card this season with six or more birds…turned in six in the second round of the Autotrader Collegiate before a career-best seven opening play at the Grandover Collegiate in October.
• Lake Johnson's 3-under total on the par 4s today is the tournament standard…three birdies and seven pars on the 10 middle-length holes.
• Etienne Brault had a solid, yet frustrating day…carded a season-high 14 pars, which is one off the tourney high through 18 holes, but was not able to manage an under-par hole…most par or better scores on the squad today.
