ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
TAMPA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team completed play today at the USF Invitational at Tampa Palms Golf Club. The Mocs finished sixth shooting 892.
The group finished off their second round playing the final four holes at 6 over, settling in sixth, with a 291 total.
Lake Johnson and
Oliver Simonsen paced the effort with twin 69s.
Connor Nolan turned in 74, while
Moritz Lammel and
Dominic Jones each had 79.
The afternoon result was 298. Johnson once again led the way with an even-par 72. Nolan and Jones followed with 73 and 74, respectively. Lammel completed the counters with 79.
Johnson's 219 (+3) tied for 12th and bested teammates Nolan and
Etienne Brault by a shot. The duo tied for 17th at 220. Brault, playing as an individual, finished his week with 74 and 71.
Jones was next at 228. Just behind him was Simonsen with 230 and Lammel at 238. The Mocs ended up two shots clear of Louisiana Tech and five ahead of Georgetown.
No. 22 USF's 854 won the event by 12 over Illinois State and Elon. The Redbirds Trent Wallace captured medalist honors at 12-under 204.
The Mocs are off until April 5-7 when they head to Nashville for the Mason Rudolph Championships. The three-day, 54-hole tourney is played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Lake Johnson matched his best 54-hole total of 2018-19 and best result tying for 12th. He now has 30 par or better rounds for his career, eight this season. 13th Moc with 40 or more in his career.
- Connor Nolan led the squad with 12 birdies, one ahead of Johnson's 11. His 45 over the last four tournaments is the Mocs top number for an average of 3.8 per round.
- Oliver Simonsen's 69 in round two was his ninth of the campaign. That ties him for third with Web.com Tour pre Jonathan Hodge in 2007-08. PGA TOUR pro Stephan Jaeger's 13 in 2011-12 is the record followed by local executive Derek Rende who recorded 10 in 2007-08.
