RESULTS | ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
 
WEST POINT, Miss.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team ended up seventh at the Old Waverly Collegiate after a final round 291 Tuesday. The Mocs finished the event with a 2-under total of 862 at the Old Waverly Club.
 
Will Porter led the way over the final 18 holes with 1-under 71. Oliver Simonsen carded level-par 72, while Connor Nolan, Dominic Jones and Etienne Brault each posted 74.
 
That put two Mocs in the top 20 for the tourney. Simonsen's 3-under 213 was good for a tie for 13th, while Nolan tied for 20th at 1-under 215. Porter was just two behind Nolan at 1-over 217. Jones and Brault finished a shot apart with 221 and 222, respectively.
 
ULM captured the team title with 846. That was one better than Ole Miss and three clear of No. 4 Vanderbilt. Middle Tennessee's Marcus Byrd won individually at 13 under.
 
The squad starts the postseason this weekend at the Southern Conference Championships. Play begins Sunday at Pinehurst No. 9 in Pinehurst, N.C., with 18 holes per day ending on Tuesday, April 23.

3 NOTES TO KNOW

• 2-under 862 is the fifth par or better total for the squad this season. The low of 846 (-6) came at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in October. The team fired 851 (-13) winning the Memphis Intercollegiate in September followed by 857 (-7) at the Autotrader Collegiate. It turned in 1-under 863 at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate in February.
• Simonsen's 3-under performance puts him at just 7 over for the campaign. There are just three par or better seasons in school history: -22, Stephan Jaeger, 2011-12; -9, Jonathan Hodge, 2007-08; -1, Stephan Jaeger, 2010-11.
• Nolan ended up with his first par or better tournament with 1-under 215. That's four better than his previous best of 219 at Martin Downs.
