Maggie Shaw sent a pass into the box for Szymanski who put the ball into the net for what would prove to be the game winner. The Mocs stout defense kept Eastern Kentucky out of the net, giving keeper
Abbey Saddler her first shutout.

The Colonels outshot Chattanooga 16-6 but the shot on goal tally was closer by a 5-4 margin favoring EKU. In the first half, Eastern Kentucky sent nine shots toward the Chattanooga goal and had seven attempts in the second half.

Maddie Burman had two shots for the Mocs, both on goal, and four other players had one each. Late in the match,
Kendra Mueller sent a pass into the box for
Chloe Arnold who got just a little too much air beneath the shot.

Eastern Kentucky's Jess Philpot and Taran McMillan each took three shots. Marian Wolski, Sarah Owusu and Baylee Lanter had two apiece.

The Colonels had eight corner kick attempts while UTC had just one that came in the second half. Saddler got five saves in 90 minutes while the Eastern Kentucky keeper Zoe Aguirre had three saves on four shots faced.

Each team tallied 15 fouls while EKU amassed two yellow cards.

The Mocs will remain on the road Friday at North Alabama. Chattanooga came away with a 3-0 win over the Lions last year at Finley Stadium for UNA's first season in Division I. The Lions won 11 games last season and was sixth in the Atlantic Sun. They fell to Lipscomb in the tournament final.
