CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams will host the UTC Twilight Meet Friday, September 13 at the Camp Jordan Race Course.
Â
Ten men's teams and 12 women's teams form multiple NCAA divisions will be competing. The women will run a 4-kilometer course with the men competing in a 7K race.
Â
"This is a quality field with perennial powers, national champions from Division II, Division III and NAIA form across the southeast," Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. "It will be a good test for our kids as we will be running a few more of our upper classman who did not see action at the UTK meet."
Â
The course is very flat and fast and temperatures on Friday are expected to be in the mid- to upper-90s at race time.
Â
"It will be hot and a definite test of fitness," Meyer said. "This will be a very good meet for our kids to continue showing progress in their training."
Â
Competing in the Division I category will be both men's and women's teams from Chattanooga, Tennessee State and Alabama State. Alabama A&M and Georgia State will run women's teams only. Non-Division I schools making the trip will be Cleveland State, West Georgia, William Carey, Montevallo, Emory and Lee University. Oglethorpe will send a men's team and Dalton State will send a women's team.
Â
The meet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. with the women's 4K followed by the men's 7K at 7:00 p.m. Results will be posted online following the race.
