The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team wrapped up the 2020 Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Clothing, at McKenzie Arena tonight. The Mocs had two individuals place in the event.
Sophomore
Matthew Waddell led the way with a fourth place showing at 184 pounds. Fellow sophomore
Tanner Smith also placed, finishing fifth at 149 pounds. Sophomore
Colton Landers advanced to Day 2, but was forced to medically withdraw before the morning round.
The Mocs finished 13
th as a team with 46 points. That is one spot up from last year's 14
th place showing.
Oklahoma State won its second title, all in the last four years, with 116 points. N.C. State was second at 109, while Stanford (99.5), Pittsburgh (93) and North Dakota State (92.5) rounded out the top five.
West Virginia's Noah Adams was the Most Outstanding Wrestler, taking the title at 174 pounds for the Mountaineers. George Mason's Colston DiBlasi won the Gorarrian Award with four pins in 15:59.
