ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs and Samford Bulldogs renew the longest-running rivalry Saturday afternoon in the Roundhouse. More on that to come, but let's look forward before we look back.
The Mocs and Bulldogs are coming off tough, hard-fought losses on Wednesday night. The good guys dropped a 73-66 decision Southern Conference leader Furman here, while Samford saw Wofford score the last six points over the final 2:22 for the 67-62 road win in Birmingham.
It's a big game in the middle of the standings at this point in the season. Chattanooga is currently tied for 7th at 1-2, while Samford is tied for fourth at 2-1. Just two games separate second-place Western Carolina and seventh in the early going.
Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus is attending to award the Chattanooga members of the All-SoCon Faculty & Staff team. The honorees are Chief of Staff Terry Denniston and Faculty Athletics Representative Debbie Ingram.
Two ticket promotions are available as well. It's Scout Day and Marion County Day with $10 lower bowl tickets available to scouts in uniform as well as Marion County residents with valid ID. The Whitwell Middle School chorus provides the national anthem.
The 2 p.m., tipoff is available on ESPN3 as well as locally on the radio via WFLI 97.7 FM & 1070 AM. Fans can also access audio on the TuneIn app. The 3-game homestand concludes Wednesday with a visit Wofford (Jan. 15).
