The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team closed out the 2020 UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic in impressive fashion today. The Mocs took four of five doubles and six of 10 singles in tournament play at the UTC Tennis Center.
"It was certainly a fantastic weekend to compete at home," stated head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. "I am very proud of how we competed all weekend with claiming 29 total matches. Every match was hard fought. This team continues to improve, I thought our doubles got better each day, and we have every player working on their games and making progress."

Rodriguez finished the weekend 3-0 after his (6-2, 6-2) win over Bernard. Rodriguez did not lose more than six games in a match this weekend. Voges also went 3-0 in singles, thanks to a three-set win over Erramuspe [4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5)] today.

For the weekend, Chattanooga won 29 of the 45 overall matches. The Mocs were 11-4 in doubles play and 18-12 in singles action against the Trojans.
"I'd like to make a shout out to the MocsVision staff for broadcasting the event on ESPN+," added Merzbacher. "It gave us the opportunity to showcase our great facility, and of course, our talented and hard working team.
"I'd also like to "thank" our training staff, as they have really worked hard to keep this team on the courts. In today's era of COVID, it's been an all out effort, as well as the everyday physical grind that tennis takes on the team."
Up next for the Mocs is the final tournament of fall play next weekend. UTC travels to the Southern Miss Invite on Oct. 23-25 in Hattiesburg, Miss. Check back to GoMocs.com during the week for a full preview.
