The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team swept seven matches on a rain-shortened afternoon at the Southern Miss Invite today.  The Mocs got a pair of doubles wins and five singles victories in Hattiesburg, Miss.

"It was a bit lighter day in regards to the amount of matches played, but sweeping the day was quite impressive," stated UTC head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "Doubles was strong again and clutch play in singles by winning three super-tiebreakers sealed the sweep."

The Mocs face Southern Miss in six of the seven matches.  UTC freshman Peyton Gatti and junior Tomas Rodriguez opened with a 6-3 doubles win over the Golden Eagles' Alex Gima and Antoine Andrian.  It was their third win in a row as a duo. 

Junior Jacob Marshall and freshman Quinten Nevenhoven had the other win, 6-3 over Christopher Cahook and Michael Koscinski.  Marshall and Nevenhoven moved to 5-1 in the fall. 

Marshall and Nevenhoven also won for the second time this weekend in singles action.  Nevenhoven dropped his first set 6-1 to Cahook, but battled back for the win [1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8)].  Marshall also had a three-set win over Antoine Andrian [6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (5)].

Sophomore Simon Labbe only dropped three games in his (6-1, 6-2) win over Gima.  Kuroki had the game score in his victory against Koscinski (6-1, 6-2). Junior Luke Plaisted had a three-set victory against MTSU's Andreas Kramer [1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (5)] for the fifth win in singles.
