ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
SPARTANBURG, S.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is in second place after Monday's 36-hole day at the Terrier Intercollegiate. It began with 300 in the morning 18 at the Country Club of Spartanburg and ended with 299 in the afternoon.
Dorota Zalewska led the way with an opening 72. That level-par tally was supported by
Esme Hamilton with 74,
Daphne van Son with 76 and
Rachel Thompson's 77.
Beatriz Barrios had the low round of the day with 71 in the afternoon. Zalewska came in with 73 with Thompson at 75. Hamilton and van Son each carded 81s.
Zalewska is tied for second at 1 over. That's one behind Tereza Melecka of ETSU in the lead at even. Barrios is tied for seventh with 149, while Thompson lurks just outside the top 10 tied for 12th at 152.
Zalewska set new collegiate bests for 36-holes score with 145 total at the end of the day. The level-par 72 in the morning 18 was her fourth par or better card, first of the season. She's the fourth Moc to record at least one through the first eight rounds of the campaign.
Barrios' 71 is her team-best fourth, all under par. Hamilton (2) and Thompson have the others.
The Bucs lead with 582. Chattanooga is in second, 11 shots clear of host Wofford in third. Tuesday's final round starts at 9:30 a.m., on the 10th hole.
