CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team grinded out a tough doubleheader split against Marshall and Western Kentucky on the opening day of the Chattanooga Challenge on Friday. UTC defeated the Thundering Herd, 10-8, before falling in the chilly nightcap to the Hilltoppers, 12-2.
The doubleheader split moves Chattanooga's overall record to 2-2. Marshall dropped to 2-3 following the loss while WKU improved to 5-2.

CHATTANOOGA NOTABLES
· Chattanooga allowed 12 runs against WKU, the most in a game in nearly two seasons. It's the most runs allowed at home since UNCG posted 15 runs on April 29, 2017 and the most at home against a non-conference opponent since IUPUI on February 18, 2017.
· Aly Walker went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored in game one's win over Marshall. It's the first four-hit game of Walker's incredible career at UTC to-this-date. She added a 1-for-3 performance against WKU to raise her season average to an even .500 (7-for-14). Walker has a hit in all four games this season and at least a hit in eight of her last nine games dating back to last season.
· Emily Coltharp posted her third multi-hit game in the season's first four games. She went 2-for-4 against both Marshall and WKU, collecting an RBI in each. She's tied with Walker for most hits so far this season (7) and carries a second-best .467 (7-for-15) average.
· Hayleigh Weissenbach went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored in the win over Marshall. She's now posted two multi-hit games this season and leads the team with seven RBI.
