CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball program soared past North Alabama, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18), to open up the spring portion of the 2020-21 season inside Maclellan Gymnasium Friday night.

Chattanooga improves to 2-0 on the season while UNA dropped to 0-1 in its first match since the Fall 2019 season. UTC moves to 3-0 all-time against the Lions.

Chattanooga out-numbered UNA in nearly every statistical category in the match. UTC attacked at a .227% clip behind 45 kills on 119 attempts while limiting the opposition to an .044% mark with 27 kills on 114 attempts. The Mocs won the assist and dig columns, 38-35 and 60-46, respectively.

The Mocs' youthful roster showcased its talents with three true freshmen leading the team in kills, assists and digs.
Hayden McGee (Dacula Ga.) registered 14 kills,
Sophia Bossong (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) dished out 34 assists and
Paige Gallentine (Fenton, Mich.) posted 16 digs. Bossong completed a double-double behind a 10-dig performance.

In addition to the young trio, redshirt freshman
Mackenzie Saitta (Elkhorn, Neb.) chipped in on offense with seven kills while true freshman
Sarah Flynn (Alpharetta, Ga.) added four kills and 4.0 total blocks. Sophomore
Coniah Davis (Glen Allen, Va.) posted six kills and 4.0 total blocks, adding to the impressive young core.

Juniors
Maia Rackel (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) and
Brenna Everingham (Noblesville, Ind.) performed exceptionally as the veterans on the floor. On the offensive side, Rackel registered 10 kills (.192%) and 4.0 total blocks while Everingham handled defensive duties with 13 digs, second most among all players.

Sophomore
Makenzie Jordan (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) added nine digs on the defensive end in her second match as a Moc since transferring to UTC.
