VIRGINIA BEACH---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team finished eighth at the Evie Odom Invitational. Chattanooga shot 291 over the final 18 for a 22-over total of 862. The lades were powered by Dorota Zalewska's top 3 finish.

Zalewska shot 71 Tuesday for a 3-day total of 206. That's one off the school record of 205 set first by Emily McLennan '16 at the 2015 Fall Invitational and matched in 2019 in this same event by current junior Esme Hamilton. Three of the top four scores all-time came in this event: Hamilton (205), Zalewska (206) and Maddy McDanel (208) in 2018.
 
Zalewska's prior low of 211 came in a runner-up ending 14 days ago at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. She tallied 14 birdies over her 54 holes at Princess Anne Country Club which is also a collegiate high for the native of Szczecin, Poland. She is averaging more than three a round over the first nine cards of the season sitting at level par with a 71.00 average.
 
Carolina Hortian had the low round for the Mocs with her first career card in the 60s. The 1-under 69 was closely followed by Zalewska's 71. Beatriz Barrios turned in 74 for the third straight day, while Megan Docherty completed the counters with 77. Esme Hamilton's 78 was the drop score.
 
Hortian and Hamilton were second on the Mocs team leaderboard at 220. Barrios finished with 222, while Dochery came in at 226. Barrios and Hortian shot season lows. The 862 team total is the fourth lowest in school history.
 
UCF claimed the team and individual titles. The Knights ended with 841 after a closing 274 today. They were led by wire-to-wire winner Tunrada Piddon shooting 200.
 
The Mocs are off for three weeks before completing the fall Oct. 25-26 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The event is played at Turtle Point Golf Club on Kiawah Island, S.C.
