- The 19th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs lost a 37-34 heartbreaker in overtime on the road in the Southern Conference at VMI...UTC is 2-3, 1-1 in the Southern Conference…the Keydets are 4-2 overall, 2-1 in the SoCon.
- Chattanooga entered the game ranked No. 19 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and were receiving votes in the Stats Perform Top 25…VMI is among those receiving votes in both editions.
- The loss snaps the Mocs 3-game FCS road win streak…last loss? Nov. 23, 2019 at VMI.
- 5-4 (.556) under Rusty Wright in FCS road tilts…33-21 (.611) over last 12 seasons.
- 1-1 in the SoCon for the first time since 2018 following a 27-20 win over Samford with a 17-14 loss at ETSU.
- Led 17-16 heading into fourth…2-1 this season…9-2 under Wright.
- First OT game of the season…1-2 under Wright in overtime with all three coming on the road…lost 35-34 in 2019 at Wofford before a 25-24 win in the spring at The Citadel.

- Two 100-yard rushers in Tyrell Price (122) and Ailym Ford (118)…last time with two topping 100 yards in same game? Elijah Ibotokun-Hanks (139) and Nick Tiano (100) in the Nov. 9, 2019 win at Samford.
- 14 of 22 games under Wright has had at least one 100-yard rusher.
- 485 yards of total offense is a season high both for VMI and against Chattanooga.
- Six tackles for loss of 16 yards…six or more made in nine of the last 12 games.
- Three sacks for the third time in five games (3 or more)…sacks came from Devonnsha Maxwell, Ben Brewton and a shared finish by Kam Jones and Christian Smith.
- Seven "explosive" plays of 20+ yards with three on the ground and four by air… Price had runs of 20 and 33 yards to go with Ford's 65 yarder…Cole Copeland hit Ka'Nore McKinnon twice (21 and 25 yards) with one each to Jamoi Mayes (31) and Reginald Henderson (24)...had nine last week for 16 over the past two weeks after eight over the first three games.
 
INDIVIDUAL
- Kam Jones had a career-best 16 stops…team-high 1.5 TFLs including his half-sack which is the first of his career.
- Ty Boeck matched his interior linebacker mate with a career-high 16 of his own…second time this season with double digits (13 at Kentucky) and eighth of his career…he now has 188 career tackles.
- Brandon Dowdell (11) and Jerrell Lawson (10) both had double-digit tackles…fourth time in double figures for Dowdell and a career best for Lawson.
- Ben Brewton's sack was a strip sack in which he ended up with the ball taking it from the QB Seth Morgan…third sack of the season…second career fumble recovery…gave the offense the ball on VMI's 29 leading to Ailym Ford's 6-yard third quarter TD run and a 14-9 lead.
- Tyrell Price led the Mocs with 122 yards on 17 carries…two touchdowns from two and 33 yards…1,306 yards for his Mocs career…17 touchdowns on the ground is three shy of the top 10…tied for eighth with 20 are James Roberts (1989-93), Robert Smith (1967-70), Kenneth Strong (1928-30) and Clarence Lautzenheiser (1926-29).
- Ford had 118 yards on 17 carries…scored on runs of six yards and a career-long 65…third 100-yard game in 2021, ninth career ties Gene Roberts (1945-46) for eighth all-time….1,667 yards in 16 career games (104.2 ypg).
- Devonnsha Maxwell had his fifth sack of the season…22.5 for his career is one behind third-place Josh Williams (2009-12)…moved into a tie for fourth place in tackles for loss with his 34th passing Nakevion Leslie (2013-16) at 33.5…tied with teammate Ty Boeck's father Troy (1987-90).
- Offensive line group of Harrison Moon, Cole Strange, Kyle Miskelley, Blake Mitchell, McClendon Curtis, Colin Truett and Brock Bethea did not allow a sack or a tackle for loss on a …both VMI tackles for loss came on pass receptions.
