CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack to soar past Furman, 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-19), in Southern Conference action inside Maclellan Gymnasium on Monday afternoon.

Following the win, Chattanooga snapped a five-match skid and improved to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in SoCon play. Furman falls to 3-3 overall and in the league.

UTC recorded 15 kills at a .145 clip in the opening set and finished with 21 team digs, limiting Furman to a .073 attacking mark and helping earn an extended 28-26 victory.
Paige Gallentine (Fenton, Mich.) posted nine digs in the opening set to aid the winning efforts.

In the second set, Chattanooga committed just two attacking errors on 40 attempts and recorded 13 kills to help capture a 25-18 victory and pull ahead 2-0.
Gylian Finch (Mt. Morris, Ill.) and
Maia Rackel (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) each recorded three kills apiece in the set while Gallentine protected the floor with seven digs and
Kate Neill (Plymouth, Minn.) added 3.0 blocks at the net.

Looking for its first sweep in exactly a month, Chattanooga rallied from an early 6-2 deficit by scoring 13 of the next 17 points to pull ahead 15-10. The Mocs traded points down the stretch and eventually clinched the 3-0 win with a 25-19 set decision.

The Mocs featured four attackers with seven or more kills with Finch (Mt. Morris, Ill.) leading the way with 10.
Mikaela Gauthreaux (Johns Creek, Ga.) and Rackel each finished with eight kills with Rackel pacing the team with a .375 attacking percentage.
MacKenzie Saitta (Elkhorn, Neb.) recorded seven in the victory.

Chattanooga showcased a stellar service game on Monday and recorded 11 aces, the second time reaching double digits this season.
Emma Perkins (Rossville, Tenn.) and
Bailey Steger (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) led the team with three each while Gallentine and Rackel posted two each

Defensively, Gallentine paced the Mocs with an impressive 23 digs in just the three sets, also added two aces and four assists. Perkins and
Sophia Bossong (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) reached double digits in digs with 13 and 11, respectively.

At the net, Chattanooga out-blocked Furman 10.0 – 4.0 in total team blocks with Rackel posting a match-high 6.0 blocks. Neill and Gauthreaux each added 4.0 blocks to solidify the team's strong performance at the net. Â

Bossong dished out a match-high 24 assists while Steger chipped in with seven. Five different Mocs recorded an assist during the victory.
