Swafford Comes Up Clutch Twice in Thursday Night Sweep

Senior Cameren Swafford recorded a game-tying RBI knock in game one, and a game-winning RBI double in game two during a Thursday sweep over Tennessee Tech.

CHATTANOOGA --- Senior Cameren Swafford ripped a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh of game one and belted an eventual game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the sixth in game two, helping the Chattanooga Mocs softball team to a pair of one run victories, 5-4 and 6-5, against Tennessee Tech on Thursday inside Jim Frost Stadium.
 
Chattanooga improves its season mark to 4-4 overall following the two wins. Tennessee Tech drops to a similar 4-4 record.

GM1: UTC 5, TTU 4 | BOX
Hayleigh Weissenbach broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second in game one with an RBI single through the right side to put UTC ahead 1-0. The Golden Eagles took advantage of a UTC error in the fifth and plated three unearned runs to help build a 3-1 advantage.
 
Kendall Forsythe answered in the home half of the inning with a two-RBI knock to left field and tied the game, 3-3. TTU's Sydney Love-Baker blasted a go-ahead solo homerun in the top of the seventh to push Chattanooga to its final three outs down a run.
 
After Emily Coltharp led off the seventh with a walk, she advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Kailey Snell and later went to third on a Forsythe fly out to right. With two outs, Cameren Swafford ripped an RBI single up the middle and tied the game 4-4.
 
Gracey Kruse followed with a shot down the right field line that pushed the pinch-runner Liz Rodebaugh all the way to third before a TTU throwing error in right field allowed her to score and walk the game off, 5-4.

Brooke Parrott (1-2) earned the victory after tossing 2.0 innings in relief while allowing just one hit and one run while striking out four. Hannah Wood started the game and went 5.0 innings, surrendering seven hits and three runs (all unearned).

Tennessee Tech's Mackenzi Fitzgerald ripped a one-out RBI single to center in the top of the first to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead in game two. The Golden Eagles extended their lead in the top of the second to 3-0 after a pair of RBI singles.
 
Chattanooga answered with a run in the home half of the second on the help of four TTU walks, concluding with an RBI walk drawn from Emily Coltharp. TTU's Haeli Bryson belted a two-run shot in the top of the third to push the tally to 5-1.
 
UTC chipped away with a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, yielding from an RBI single off the bat of Coltharp and an RBI double from Courtney Ball, to pull within two at 5-3.
 
The Mocs continued its late rally, this time plating three runs in the home half of the sixth to pull ahead 6-5. Kailey Snell ripped a two-run double to the gap in left center to tie it before Cameren Swafford drove in the eventual game-winning run with a double off the wall in left center.
 
Hannah Wood (2-1) earned the victory after throwing 4.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing six hits and striking out three. Wood struck out the final batter of the game to strand the potential game-tying run at second.
