Soccer Hosts Western Carolina Sunday Afternoon

The Chattanooga women's soccer team will host Western Carolina Sunday afternoon in a Southern Conference matchup at the UTC Sports Complex.

CHATTANOOGA vs. WESTERN CAROLINA
The Catamounts lead the series with Chattanooga 11-7-3. In McKinney's second season, the Mocs snapped a four-game losing skid to Western Carolina and have won the last four meetings. In Chattanooga, WCU leads 5-3-3. This will be the first meeting at the UTC Sports Complex.
 
CHATTANOOGA NOTES
• UTC opened with a 2-0 victory over North Alabama. The Mocs are 11-14 in season openers. In home openers, UTC improves to 13-10-1. McKinney's season-opening record is 3-2-1.
• The Mocs came from a 1-0 deficit early in the second half to win 2-1 in overtime against ETSU. Chattanooga scored goals in the 79th and 103rd minute.
• Chattanooga snapped a 13-game losing skid to Samford with a 1-1 draw in the SoCon-opener. Samford was picked to win the Southern Conference in the Coaches' Preseason Poll.
• The Mocs lead the SoCon with fewest goals allowed with two shutouts, and goals-against average.
• Ashton Shields was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on March 9 after recording six saves against Samford and earning a shutout in the scoreless draw.
• Chloe Arnold scored the game-winning goal in the Mocs' opening 2-0 win over North Alabama. She connected on a PK in the 12th minute to give the Mocs' a win. She was named the SoCon Player of the Week for her effort in the Mocs' season-opening win.
• Junior captain Maggie Shaw was selected to the SoCon Coaches' Preseason All-Conference Team.
