BOECK NAMED NATIONAL & SOCON POW FOLLOWING FURMAN PERFORMANCE
Junior
Ty Boeck led the Mocs' stout defensive effort in a 20-18 win at Furman on March 20. He posted two takeaways and a team-high eight tackles to earn both Stats Perform National Defensive Player of the Week and Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week presented by GEICO.
Â
It was the first time Boeck earned national recognition and was his second career SoCon honor. He was the league's player of the week after posting 12 tackles, including 2.0 TFLs and a pair of forced fumbles against Mercer in 2019. In the win at Furman, he had a diving interception to end the Paladins' first drive. "That was my first interception since middle school," joked Boeck after the game. On Furman's second play of their next possession, Boeck recovered a fumbled handoff, setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The Paladins were held to just 170 yards on 57 plays for the game.  It was the fewest total yards allowed in the 50-game series with Furman.
Â

SEASON NO. 113
Coming off of the year-long celebration of 150 years of college football in 2019, the Mocs are competing in their 113th season. The University of Chattanooga was founded in 1886 and football officially began play in 1904. No teams were fielded in 1917 and 1918 due to World War I. There was also a two-year hiatus from football action during World War II in 1943 and 1944. The Mocs have an all-time record of 548-539-35 (.504) and have won 13 conference titles.
