- The Chattanooga Mocs dropped a 35-28 game against Mercer today … UTC falls to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in SoCon action … the Bears improved to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Rusty Wright's mantra has been player development during spring football. He proved to be a man of his word with 19 student-athletes making their first Chattanooga starts today, nine on offense and 10 on defense. Fourteen of those were freshmen including the entire offensive line. The three "returning" starters:

Kameron Brown (3rd).Â
- Mercer scored its first 14 points on short fields after UTC muffed two punts.
- Mocs had six penalties for 41 yards … all in the first half … Mercer had nine flags for 105 yards.
