GREENWOOD, Ind. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball defensive specialists Brenna Everingham (Noblesville, Ind.) and Megan Kaufman (Liberty Twp., Ohio) were named to the 2020-21 Academic All- District® 3 First Team, as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kaufman, a senior, becomes the first three-time All-District® selection in program history following previous selections in 2018 and 2019. A nursing major, Kaufman carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA and expects to finish schooling in December of 2021.
Everingham earns the laurel for the first time in her career following her third season with the Mocs and posted an impressive 3.71 cumulative GPA in the classroom. She graduated in the Spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as an Accounting major.
"I am definitely not surprised by this incredible accolade that Megan and Brenna are both receiving. They are everything you want in a student-athlete and even better teammates and human beings," said head coach Travis Filar.
"They both have anchored and led our backcourt play throughout their careers. Despite the fact that only one can play libero at a time, which both of them have for us, they have always competed at a high level, made each other better, all the while supporting each other on and off the court, which speaks to their high character.
"They have always been successful in the classroom and on the court here at Chattanooga and I know the sky is the limit for both of them as they finish their undergrad careers," added Filar.
Kaufman finishes her career seventh all-time at UTC with 1,400 career digs at a 4.22 digs per set average. She posted three, 300+ dig seasons including a career-high 613 as a freshman, the second-most digs in a single season for a rookie in the program's history. In the classroom, Kaufman maxed out on Academic All-Southern Conference, Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll selections over her four-year career.
Everingham finished second on the team during the 2020-21 season with 210 total digs at a 3.33 per set average and also ranked second in service aces with 14. Appearing in 75 matches since arriving on campus in 2018, Everingham has posted 190+ digs all three seasons and has amassed 619 career digs. In addition, the defensive specialist totaled 64 assists and 33 aces in 256 total sets played.
