NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team scored first but Belmont's Golden Goal in double-overtime secured the win for the Bruins in a 2-1 non-conference match at Rose Park Friday night. Chattanooga falls to 1-2 overall and Belmont finds its first win of the season.

With just 12 seconds remaining in the final overtime, Belmont's Maci Pekmezian broke down the middle of the field and was fed a pass by Leah Firsdon as she approached the box. Her left-footed shot got through the Mocs' defense to end the match.

"We were not at our best tonight," Mocs head coach
Gavin McKinney said. "We look forward to improving on our performance moving into Sunday. There is quality and fight in our team, so we will bounce back."

Chattanooga struck early as
Maggie Shaw connected with her sister
Samantha Shaw on a set piece in the 13
th minute. Maggie sent her free kick into the box and Samantha headed it in from the top of the six to put the Mocs up 1-0 on the first shot of the match.

The teams traded shots the rest of the half with Belmont securing three, all on target in the first. The Mocs shot on goal in the 32
nd minute was instigated by
Maggie Shaw who sent a through ball to
Ella Roth. The freshman surged into the box and fired off a left-footed shot that was stopped by Belmont's keeper Sarah Doyle.

Abbey Saddler kept the game in check with a diving save in the 43
rd minute to hold the Mocs' lead heading into intermission.

It wouldn't take long in the second half for Belmont to equalize the match. Firsdon's shot to the far post found its way in through the bottom left corner to make it 1-1 at the 47:38 mark of the match.

Chattanooga had a chance to take the lead in regulation, but the shot was off target. Belmont's defense passed the ball to Doyle. She fielded the pass with her foot but was unable to clear it and
Samantha Shaw picked it up and sent her defended shot to an empty net, but it was off target into the side of the goal.

Belmont outshot the Mocs 12-5 with a 9-3 shots on goal advantage. Saddler had seven saves in the match with four coming in the first half.
