CHATTANOOGA---The 22nd-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are headed into the lion's, er Wildcats den this weekend. The squad heads north to Lexington, Ky., for a meeting with SEC leader Kentucky.

The Mocs are fresh off a dominant defensive performance in a 20-0 triumph at North Alabama while UK is the lone 1-0 team in the SEC defeating Missouri 35-28 at Kroger Field. Both squads pride themselves upfront and with good reason.

The Wildcats present a problem for the resurgent defensive unit. They average 40 points and 541.5 yards per game gaining 242.5 rushing and 299.0 passing on average. The Cats amassed 340 yards on the ground against Mizzou behind the nation's second leading rusher Chris Rodriguez, Jr.'s 165.5 per contest.

Chattanooga put together a historic performance at UNA defensively. The unit held the Lions below 100 yards total offense. That was a first since the '80s for UTC's offense and UNA's defense. In fact, it was the first time since 2010 (113 games) the Lions were held scoreless.

Today's weekly press conference featured Coach Rusty Wright along with seniors Chris James (TE) and Chattanooga native Rashun Freeman (DB).

3 NOTES TO KNOW
  • 3-game road winning streak dating back to the spring. Defeated The Citadel 25-24 in OT in Charleston before knocking off No. 11 Furman 20-18 two weeks later in Greenville, S.C. Added UNA to that list.
  • Running backs Ailym Ford (1,347) and Tyrell Price (1,065) topped milestone numbers during the first half at North Alabama. Ford needs 153 yards to become the first runner since Derrick Craine '16 to exceed 1,500 yards in a career. Ford is through 13 averaging 103.6 yards per game.
  • Devonnsha Maxwell's has 21.0 career sacks, fourth all-time at UTC trailing third-place Josh Williams (2009-12) by 2.5. He's one of just four with 20+ sacks for a career (Tull '14, 37.0-SoCon record/Keionta Davis '16, 31.0).
