PREVIEW: Women’s Golf Starts Season in Knoxville

CHATTANOOGA---It's time. The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team gets its season started this week at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. The quintet will traverse 54 holes over two days at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.

The fivesome includes three standouts from last year along with two exciting freshmen. All-Southern Conference performer Esme Hamilton headlines the group along with Dorota Zalewska and Beatriz Barrios. Megan Docherty and Carolina Hortian make their debuts in blue and gold.

It's not the first time the Mocs have teed off in the Mercedes-Benz which is hosted by sister school Tennessee. In fact, this week marks the 10th entry. UTC history in the event:

Esme Hamilton (All-SoCon) & Beatriz Barrios (All-Freshman) earned league honors in 2020-21.
Hamilton is averaging 74.23 over her last 57 rounds. That includes four top 5s & seven top 10s in 19 events over the last two seasons.
Eight top 5s in 2020-21 with three each for Barrios and Hamilton and two by Dorota Zalewska. Seven of those came in the top 3 with multiples by all three. First time in school history with multiple top 3s by a trio.
