CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs will open the 2022 indoor season this Friday at the Samford Invite at the Birmingham Cross Plex.
Â
"We are looking forward to our first outdoor meet this year," Mocs head coach Andy Meyer said. "Everyone has had a good block of training leading up to this. Samford does a great job of putting on a very fast and competitive meet."
Â
Kimbra Dunning will get the meet started with the Long Jump in the morning and the Triple Jump will take place mid-afternoon. She is also set to run in the 60 meter and 200 meter events along with Imani Bryant and Sage Davis. The trio will be joined in the shorter race by Gracie Morse who will also compete in the 60 meter Hurdles.
The men's cross country team will have Jonathan Boyd, Lane Hollis, Aaron Isbell, Eric Mitchell, Kaigen Mulkey, Ryan Phillips and Jasper Wilson running in the 5K that follows the women's race.
Â
Faith Brown, Ashtyn Hagood and Justine Glass will all take part in the Mile and Glass, along with Emma Russum will run the 3K. The women's 5K will feature Hannah Dearing, Lesley Green, Camden Morris and Allie Potter.

Â
Carley Burt and Rebekah Pass are entered into the 400 meter dash while Sydney Cansler and Emmy Davis are set to compete in the 800 meter run.
Â
"This is a great meet for our kids to find their track legs again," Meyer said. "The first meet is about finding exactly where we are from a fitness perspective and a race strategy perspective. This meet sets the course for our training for the next month or so. We can see where weaknesses are, and our strengths lie.
Â
"A few of the freshman will have their eyes open to the physicality of indoor track and the speed at which things happen. We are hoping to place a few kids in the 800, mile, 3K and the 5K. We hope Kim [Dunning] does well in the LJ and our sprinters compete hard in the 60 and 200m.
Â
The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time with the women's shot put and conclude with the men's 4x4 relay at 6:25 EST. Results will be available at GoMocs.com following the meet.
