- The 6th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs dropped a 24-20 decision at No. 24 Furman on a Saturday afternoon in Paladin Stadium…Mocs are 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the SoCon…the Paladins improve to 7-2, 5-1 in league play.
- Entered the game ranked No. 6 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Rankings and No. 7 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25…Furman was No. 24 in Stats Perform and receiving votes from the coaches.
- Eight straight weeks as a top 10 team…longest since 27-game stretch from Nov. 15, 2014-Nov. 19, 2016.
- 40-25-1 all-time when ranked in the top 10...28-13 at the FCS level...nine of the losses are to ranked or FBS opponents.
- 4-1 in the SoCon standings…drop from a first-place into fourth but just a game out of first....Samford leads at 5-0 with Mercer and Furman second at 5-1.
- All-time record of 560-548-35 (.506) in 1,142nd game…115th season.
- 163-164-2 (.499) in 329 SoCon games…46th campaign in the league.
- First loss to an FCS team this season.

- Snaps a 4-game win streak over ranked FCS opponents: No. 11 Mercer (41-21) last weekend; No. 10 ETSU, 21-16 on Oct. 16, 2021; at No. 11 Furman, 20-18 on Mar. 20, 2021 & No. 11 Wofford, 24-13 on Feb. 27, 2021…9-16 all-time in games with both teams ranked (FCS), 2-1 under Rusty Wright.
- Trailed 17-10 at halftime…just the third time this season playing from behind at the break losing 31-0 at No. 17 Illinois and coming back from 13-0 deficit for the 21-16 win at ETSU…closed to within 24-20 with two separate drives inside the Furman 40 in the fourth quarter coming up short.
- +1 on the turnover battle with two fumble recoveries and an interception balanced by two interceptions for the Paladins…Furman entered the contest first in the nation in takeaways with 19 (now 21)…Mocs were top team in margin at +6 (now +7).
- Out-rushed 185-84…season high by an opponent…fewest yards for the Mocs this campaign.
- Threw for 270 yards…15.9 yards per completion.
- 4-6 in the red zone (66.7%)…two misses were an interception and blocked field goal…entered today 23 of 26 (88.5%) on red zone entries with 17 TDs.
- Furman was 9-16 (56.3%) on third-down conversions…that's a season high for an opponent in both number of conversions and percentage made.
 
INDIVIDUAL
- Leading rusher and all-around good guy Ailym Ford missed today's game with an injury…he'll wait a week to continue his assault on the program record books.
- DT Devonnsha Maxwell continued his climb toward the career tackle for loss record…1.0 today gets his total to 51.0 which is 9.0 shy of Davis Tull's '14 60.0.
- 36.5 of Maxwell's TFLs have come in SoCon contests.
- WR Tyron Arnett recorded six catches for 100 yards…both career highs.
- Second straight week with a 100-yard receiver…Jamoi Mayes had eight catches for 121 yards and a score against Mercer last time out…last time with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games? 2018. Bryce Nunnelly against Samford (5-180 1TD) & Wil Young (13-108) at ETSU.
- DT Marlon Taylor had his first career sack and fumble recovery on separate plays…ended the game with four stops.
- LB Ty Boeck's fourth quarter interception is the third of his career, second in Paladin Stadium…all of his interceptions have come on the road.
- Boeck had a game and season-high 14 tackles.
- Safety Jordan Walker had his second takeaway in as many weeks with a fumble recovery on Furman's first drive.
- The Mocs offensive line have not allowed a sack in 9+ quarters.
- PK Aaron Sears hit field goals from 32 and 23 yards out…back-to-back weeks with multiple field goals…7th time in his career.
