Rusty Wright, Head Coach

Overall thoughts after the 35-24 loss.
"The first half, we didn't tackle very well, didn't line up very well. That one's on me. I didn't think we played well enough in the first half to have a chance, I thought we played a little better in the second half. It just wasn't good enough. They got it done, and we didn't."

On what was the difference.
"They came out and played like they have all year, we knew that was going to happen. I think we were ready to play, I just didn't think we were ready for how fast it was going to be to figure things out. And once you let that get going, it's tough to stop."

On the second half play.
"The guys did what they had to do in the second half. We could have been better executing. We had opportunities to get it to a one-score game. And we just couldn't execute it. That's just what happens when you play uphill all day."

McClendon Curtis, OL-Sr.
On the difference today.
"We can't wait so long to get going offensively. They played a little different than what we saw on film, but that didn't bother us that much. When we have an opportunity on offense, we have to make those plays. They came to play defensively and we give them props. That's the best Samford defense we've played in my time here."

On what needs to improve.
"We've started a lot of games slow. That makes you need to score when you can. You pretty much have to get points every time you have the ball. It was surprising. We had a great week of practice and worked hard. We just have to come out a little bit harder."

On the final home came at Chattanooga.
"You want to win it. But I appreciate everything about Chattanooga, being from here, I'm so appreciative of have the chance to play here. Whenever you go out and have a chance to play football and you come back healthy, there's not much more you can ask for."

Jay Person, Jr.-EDGE
On matching up with Samford.
"They didn't do too many things different. We just didn't execute on the game plan. We knew they were going to come out fast and run the hurry-up. Substitutions were tough. It was just the basic things we couldn't get figured out."

On Samford gaining chunk plays on first down.
"That was rough. That is one of the hardest things to do in college football, playing catch up. We put ourselves in that situation and we just have to be better on that."
