Postgame Quotes
Dan Earl, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after tough opening loss.
"Yeah, a tough game. Charleston played a hard game and credit to them. The first half, we didn't match their physicality. They had 11 offensive rebounds in the half which is tough for us. You see 21 turnovers on the stat sheet and it's hard to overcome that. We have to continue to get better and be ready for the next one."
On the second half effort from the team.
"That was one good thing, the resolve. You look in the huddle and guys are ready to compete and get after it. It was a little demoralizing how easy they were scoring, in the first half particularly. We played so much harder in the second half. I think we tried to make a lot of homerun plays in the first half, where I thought we moved the ball better and got better looks in the second. We have to build on that."
On a tough environment for game one.
"College of Charleston has great history and tradition themselves. It's a tough place to play and the fans were really into it. It was loud in there, so on top of everything else, you're trying to communicate amongst each other, and our communication wasn't loud enough and often enough. It was a great mid-major basketball game. It was a fun way to start the year in it being a great mid-major game, just tough for it to come out this way."
