- Chattanooga beat Young Harris 65-39 in the first game of the Shawn Poppie Era … UTC starts the season 1-0 … this was an exhibition for Young Harris … this was the first meeting between the two programs.
 
- The Mocs are 25-24 overall in season-openers and 16-4 when opening the season at home.
 
- The two teams battled at the start. Young Harris took the lead on a 3-pointer at the 2:50 mark of the first quarter. Yazz Wazeerud-Din scored the next six for the Mocs and led them on a 29-4 run that stretched across three quarters ending with a layup from Wazeerud-Din at the start of the third.
 
- Chattanooga was 23-of-60 from the field, 7-of-23 from the 3-point line and 12-of-19 from the charity stripe.
 
- UTC scored 15 points off 25 turnovers that included 14 steals … the bench contributed 18 points … UTC outscored Young Harris 32-18 in the paint.
 
- Chattanooga edged the Mountain Lions 38-35 on the boards … UTC scored eight second chance points on 12 offensive boards compared to one on eight offensive rebounds for Young Harris.
