Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening thoughts after 83-79 OT loss to Belmont.
"I don't know what the difference was exactly. Throughout the game, I think it was just a lack of energy. It was kind of back-and-forth. We made a lot of plays late, a big three, a big block, and then we immediately allowed them to hit one or two big threes. In the future, it's about capitalizing on that momentum."

On curing the turnover aches.
"We've won a couple games and I literally looked them in the eyes and said we can't maintain this and win games. We can't keep having 18, 19 turnovers and put that much pressure on shot making. They're trying, they're not trying to turn the ball over. It's just valuing the ball. It's a double-edged sword because you don't want your guys to be timid. Hopefully this gets our guys attention."

On the team's resilience.
"We're grinding out at times. We made some big shots and got the ball inside. Jake made some big shots inside, it was one of those grind-it-out games. We were hoping at the end, we felt a little better, but we just couldn't get over the hump. We just never really got that spark. That's no fault to our players, they're playing hard."

Jake Stephens, Gr., C
On if he can enjoy a 30-20 game despite the loss.
"No, honestly. You look at the missed free throws, a ton of turnovers. It definitely stings. It's just another game, we have another one Wednesday, so we can't sulk too long."

On fixing the turnover issues.
"It's tough. We're working on it, so if there's any solutions, just let me know. We've done this the past couple games. It's just being smarter and valuing the ball. I have to know they're coming with the double and take care of the ball and not be afraid to kick it out. It's something we're dealing with and it'll be a thing we attack in practice."
