MOBILE, Ala. – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback to a tough South Alabama squad in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon in Mobile, Ala.
Following the loss, Chattanooga falls to 1-5 on the season. South Alabama improved to an impressive 7-2 in 2022.
"This was a strong South Alabama team. Definitely one of the best teams we played this and I'm sure they'll make a run in the Sun Belt," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher.
"The schedule has been one of the toughest put together, but I believe we keep getting better and tougher each and every match."
Quinten Nevenhoven secured the team's lone point with a 7-5, 4-3 (retired) singles decision over South Alabama's Javier Montoya. It was a winning effort that was much rewarded according to coach Merzbacher.
"It was good to see Quinten come in and get the job done today. He's worked so hard."
Chattanooga returns to action Friday, February 18 as it travels to Kennesaw State for a 5:00 p.m. ET matchup. When available, live stats and results will be posted at GoMocs.com.
