BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team secured a 6-1 neutral site victory over Big South member Hampton to earn its first dual victory of the 2022 spring season on Friday morning in Blacksburg, Va., on the campus of Virginia Tech.
 
In the second leg of competition on the day, Chattanooga fell 7-0 to host Virginia Tech. Following the split, UTC moves to 1-2 this season. Hampton fell to 0-1 while VT improved to 1-4.

"This was a good, and challenging day for the Mocs," said head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "It was great to get our first win over Hampton. The Virginia Tech match, I was very encouraged by how we competed on their home courts.

"It's quite an advantage there and there was a path to success with a close doubles point and splitting sets in three matches. The other matches were close with chances."
 
Chattanooga returns to action on Sunday as it hosts in-state foe Belmont at 2 p.m. ET at The McCallie School's Strang-Voges Tennis Center. Live stats and results will be available at GoMocs.com.
