CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to nationally-ranked VCU in non-conference action on a sunny Friday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.
Following the loss, Chattanooga falls to 3-10 on the year while continuing to hold a 1-0 mark in SoCon play. VCU, the No. 42 ranked team in the country, improved to 9-6 overall this season.
"It was a tough match for sure, but I felt like the guys played within themselves for the most part," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. "That VCU team is strong and will certainly be a tournament team."
"We have one more big match on Sunday against Georgia State and then it will be full focus on the SoCon."
Chattanooga returns to action on Sunday when it hosts the Panthers at the UTC Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 12 p.m. ET. Live stats will be available and the link can be found on the schedule page.
