CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team suffered a 5-2 setback to Georgia State in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.
Following the loss, Chattanooga has dropped its last five matches and sees its record move to 3-11 overall while still holding on to the 1-0 mark in SoCon play ahead of a conference stretch. Georgia State, the Sun Belt preseason favorites, improved to 8-6 this season.
"Told these guys that they weathered the storm of a tenaciously tough schedule," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. "Georgia State is picked to win the Sun Belt which is a very strong conference in tennis."
"We had great wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles in
Kerim Hyatt and
Simon Labbe, they played great today. Now the focus is on SoCon matches. We are hoping to have our full lineup ready."
