CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team battled its way to a 5-2 victory over Wofford in its Southern Conference opener on a chilly Saturday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.
 
After the win, Chattanooga extended its win streak to four and improves to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in league play. Wofford fell to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in SoCon action.
 
"It was a great win today. Wofford is a tough team and very well coached," said head coach Chad Camper following the match. "Our players had to really ern the victory today."
 
While holding a 3-2 team lead, Callie Billman clinched the match at No. 5 singles after fighting back for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Billman and Coco Bosman also notched a team point behind a 6-4 clinching decision in the doubles play at the No. 3 slot.
 
Nicole Abel (6-1, 6-2), Emma Van Hee (5-7, 7-5, 6-1), Billman and Bosman (6-0, 6-1) all recorded victories in singles play to help aid the team's victorious effort. In addition, Van Hee and Abel teamed up for a 6-1 rout in doubles.
 
Chattanooga is back on the courts tomorrow, Sunday March 20, to host Western Carolina in Southern Conference play at 1 p.m. ET. Live stat links are located on the schedule page.
