CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team got off to a solid start at the third Chattanooga Classic Sunday. The ladies made their way around Council Fire Golf Club at 302 which is good for a tie for sixth-place in the very early going.
 
Junior Esme Hamilton led the way with a 2-under 70. When we say she led the way, that's not just for the Mocs. She topped 102 of the 104 other players in the field recording five birdies and 10 pars against three bogeys.
 
Her total was closely supported by freshman Megan Docherty's 4-over 74. Dorota Zalewska added 78, while Carolina Hortian came in with an 80.
 
"I feel like we played better than the score we got," Coach Colette Murray explained. "I'm sure we can get back in this thing because we have two more days to play."
 
North Florida has the advantage after 18 holes with a 294. Yale is second at 296 with UTSA and East Carolina in third with 297. Hamilton is tied for lead overall alongside Julie Boysen-Hillestad (East Carolina) and Ana Gonzalez (UTSA). Docherty joins Hamilton in the top 20 in a tie for 17th.
 
Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. Click the pairings link above for the Mocs time. The field all plays from the first hole with the final pairing teeing off at 1:36 p.m. Admission is free.
